The Venue

We checked out the venue today and spoke to one of the technicians who answered the questions we had. The stage is quite big it's 4.75mx10m with the seats all out. I had a look at the back stage area where Sharon and I will be doing hair and make-up and there's a nice sized dressing room that has mirrors at the back of dressing tables, the only problem we may have is that you cannot bring in your own electrical equipment unless it has been PAT tested so we won't be able to bring in our own straigteners and curling tongs. I think we will have to speak to the hair and beauty departement as they may allow us to use theirs.
They provide a lot of sound and lighting equipement which is good for us as we won't have to deal with the hassle of taking all of our own stuff to and from the Hawth. There are still some things we need to bring, mics are going to be our own. We had a look at the sound and lighting area which is in the corner above the audience. It may not fit many people but it is out of the way and allows the people at the controls to have a proper look.
We wrote out our risk assessment forms, there aren't a lot of hazards, but the hazards that are there are all fairly low risk, i.e. tripping over wires.

What We've Been Doing

We've picked a name for the awards now, SCAMPs (Students of Crawley Awards for Media Production). We have just been discussing the different roles that we need to fill before and on the night. I chose to be part of the marketing team before the night, which I imagine involves sorting out poster designs, newspaper ads etc. On the night I'm doing hair and make-up which I think will involve touch ups on hair and make-up for hosts and presenters.
